After a suspense-filled delay due to the volcano, the SIMagine contest’s winners have been announced this evening at SIMposium event in Rome. The organizer SIMalliance, the partners Sophia-Antipolis, Samsung and Oracle|Sun and the sponsors Orange, Telefonica and Telecom Italia, are proud to have awarded €150,000 worth of prizes.
The most innovative, usable, well designed and showing the highest commercial potential projects are:

The 10 finalist teams now make a final effort to present the most competitive project at the final Award ceremony. Held at SIMposium in Rome on April 20th (www.simposiumglobal.com), the final award phase will be lead by a judging panel composed of 12 members, representatives of the SIM and mobile industry. They will judge the projects according to innovation, commercial potential, usability and quality of design criteria. The awards will have a double nature: a money reward linked to each prize (gold, silver and bronze) and complementary development, research, coaching, consulting, educational/training and promotional services. SIMagine Workshop: time for advices on financing and IP issues

A new SIMagine Workshop dedicated to the 10 finalist teams was held on March 17th via a webinar. The teams were given an overview on how to seek financing and on intellectual property tips. These topics were presented by Daniel Kahn and Fabrice Perbost from Kahn & Associés and by Jérôme Colin from Regimbeau.

The candidates were also invited to present their progresses since Barcelona’s workshop held in February. hey received additional advices from Michel Bernasconi from Skema Business School on the business aspect of their project.

For this 2010 edition, the SIMagine Pre-selection Committee have pre-selected 52 candidates out of 103 projects submitted. Coming from 35 countries, two categories of contestants were accepted:
- any engineering school, university and business school or school
- any individual or company specialized in telecommunications and/or Java language, software houses, integrator, mobile content and/or service provider.
The Candidates will have the possibility to participate in a training session on November 4th & 5th, 2009 in Sophia Antipolis, France or join in through webcast. The Candidates are given a development kit. They benefit from advice and support from the contest’s organizers, partners and sponsors via the SIMagine website.
